
CCHR International declares that 2025 marked a turning point in the global fight against coercive psychiatric practices as institutions and the public increasingly reject forced hospitalization, drugging and electroshock treatment.
CCHR President Jan Eastgate and Executive Director Fran Andrews testified before the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities urging prohibition of involuntary treatment and highlighting harm from electroconvulsive therapy on children.
CCHR joined protests with Amalia Gamio and participated in the World Federation for Mental Health Congress to press for alignment with UN and World Health Organization mandates to end coercion in psychiatry.
