Jackson Psychiatrist Dr. Sidney Moragne Placed on Probation

The Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners has placed Dr. Sidney Moragne on probation for a period of no less than three years. This for prescribing methadone to patients of his private psychiatric practice without a license, according to the Jackson Sun.

A review of his patient charts uncovered several deficiencies, including the failure to keep prescription records, failure to perform physical exams and failure to address inconsistent drug screens, the order said.

Moragne was ordered to pay one civil penalty in the amount of $500 for each violation listed, for a total of $1,000. The maximum amount for the assessment of legal costs will be $1,500, according to the state.

Moragne graduated from Howard University’s College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., in 1985 and received a medical license from the state of Tennessee in October 2003.
