The widespread use of medication in this age group raises concerns about exposing developing brains to drugs with limited long-term safety data. Contributing factors include classroom pressures, inconsistent access to behavioral services, and diagnostic practices that may vary widely.
The trend highlights the need for greater awareness of non-drug alternatives and careful evaluation before medication is prescribed to very young children.
